I had the honour, pleasure, and fabulous good fortune to assist Carla in London for two weeks. A dream come true - living, working, eating and at the TFIC Image conference – even sleeping in the same room as my icon! I experienced the joy and inspiration that Carla brought to every waking moment. I came to appreciate that the work of a Body Beautiful Stylist is both a calling and a gift. This was Carla’s attitude and it drew people to her everywhere we went: from the conference to the Victoria and Albert Museum and even at the American Embassy. What is the Carla Mathis secret? As far as I could figure it out, she simply lives the three-part philosophy presented by Conference Presenter, Howard Roberts.

Intimacy
I observed how Carla herself experienced each client as the most special person in her life at that moment. She created a magical journey into their needs, dreams, desires in life and personal style. Again and again I heard “This experience with Carla will completely change how I work.”

Mystery
A pioneer in her field, as were Elizabeth Arden and Coco Chanel, she has an enigmatic personality. Consultant after consultant told me the reason for their coming to London was to get closer to the Carla mystique.

Sensuality
Watching Carla at work was such an emotional experience because she approached each client with a sense of wonderment and adventure. She visually prepared herself for each time, deciding what (which?) outfit would bring the most to the client’s experience of her as an image consultant. She absolutely delighted in their colours, as though she was on the verge of a major discovery. Wow!
